As a real estate sales agent, realtor or CEO of a real estate firm, you know for sure that to generate leads for any property isn't easy, most times it can take months or probably years to get that lead to purchase a property.


The question is, is it really easy to generate leads for real estate?


Yes! but it would require the following:

  • A strategy – investing in the right tools

  • Basic marketing knowledge

  • Persistence

And yes persistence is key! you don't expect to market a property for just days/weeks and get leads, some times you can but most times it requires a continuous process which involves a good marketing strategy.


I would tell you a quick story, back in 2015 while i was operating as a freelancer, i approached a real estate firm to help them generate leads for their business, but because they were not sure if i could actually generate leads as i claimed, they decided to work with me for just 2 weeks, all expenses was covered by them. Remember i was a freelancer, so i developed a marketing strategy using social media marketing to achieve my goal.


The goal was to generate quality leads for people who could afford the property(house), which i was marketing for the real estate firm. These were my strategy:

  • Created a target Audience Research

  • Developed a Graphic design - Which included pictures of the whole apartment, rooms, kitchen, toilet and many others

  • Created a short engaging content for the Ads

  • Implemented Facebook Ads (Objective) - Lead Generation

With a budget of N10,000 ($30) and my marketing strategy as a freelancer, i was able to generate 11 solid leads within 2 weeks of which some of the leads called for inspection on the property, while other visited the real estate firm.


So knowing how to market your property is an important step in generating leads. Remember, the world is evolving, so is digital marketing also, so your marketing strategy must tie to what would attract or capture your audience attention.

  4. Who's the best agent/lender/agency

Also, most buyers and sellers are looking for big real estate websites to find properties. If you want to stand out more than them, then you need outstanding content.

Start by creating content that’s well packed with valuable information. But what is high value information?


The answer depends on who is viewing the information. You have to know your audience and what they value.


For example, if you attract visitors who searched for the keyword “how to buy a home in Lagos, Nigeria,” and you thoroughly answer that question, then they’ll perceive your content as valuable because it’s relevant and provides specific answers to their question. Bonus points if you also exceed their expectations.


You can market your valuable content through different ways across the internet, some of which are:

  • Create blogs, webinars & podcast

  • Create local pages and guides targeting specific keywords in your city.

SEO which stands for Search Engine Optimization is the processing of affecting a website/web-page to rank high on search engine result page like Google.


Applying SEO to your real estate website drives traffic to your website and most importantly helps you to show up when home buyers searches for properties they are likely to purchase.


Although not all traffic are good traffic, that is why you would want to localize your traffic, so you don't generate the wrong traffic.
